Mount Pelee
Eruptions
The most recent eruption of Mt.Pelee is in 1932. In the past 5,000 years there has been 20 major eruptions. On September 16, 1929, Mount Pelée began to erupt again. The area was evacuated quickly. And although Mt.Pelee emitted hot ash and, pyroclastic flows it was a calmer eruption then some of the previous eruptions. Mt.Pelee also created a spine during that eruption, but the volcano ended erupting in 1932. During this eruption there were no casualties, or deaths. The volcano did little damage only killing some livestock and damaging some of the road due to the lava. The previous eruption was in 1902, and had 30,000 victims and left 2-3 people alive. It had also left the town of Saint Pierre destroyed, lava also covered the northern side of the island.
